Standards & Guidelines

(2004-2011)

The Problem

Our development project consisted of well over 50+ application embedded into one gigantic solution. Each application was developed by a wide range of development teams located in different branches throughout the world. The goal was to achieve a uniform look and feel, so that users cannot tell that each application was developed by different departments. The aim was to maximize ease of use and deliver a positive experience for users, while simultaneously offering consultation to developers who were involved in front end development.

The Solution

The Pragmatic Guidelines project was initially started by myself. After being the only UI expert, I decided to informally publish a set of guidelines to help ease the amount of worked accumulated by 30+ front end developers. After the formation of NetWeaver User Experience team, the guidelines project became official and UI designers from India, Israel, Germany, and Bulgaria involved in administration, monitoring, and analytical UIs were all asked to consolidate an official pragmatic guidelines document for use throughout the department.
